Artist Statement & Bio
Like most artists, James started out drawing at a very young age and was the official family photographer. He followed his father’s footsteps and became a firefighter for a few years then decided to quit and pursue a career as an artist.
James enrolled in college at the age of 24 and completed his Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design from the New England institute of art in Boston MA. In 2013, he returned home to NY and started a career in The Motion Picture Studio Mechanics Union of NYC as a grip on major television and movie productions. James has worked for Marvel, Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and many more as well as movie directors such as Steven Spielberg and Seth Rogan among many others.
He moonlighted as a photojournalist in heavy metal and quickly moved on to directing and editing music videos for some of the worlds best and most extreme heavy metal bands. James has had work published by Rolling Stone, Vice, the BBC along with dozens of other reputable publications from all around the globe. He continued to pursue fine art during his free time and finally came full circle returning to his roots in Abstract Expressionism a few years ago.
