What I love about art!
When a piece of art is viewed by an observer, they may have a different perception of the piece, than I do. I feel an artist needs to allow the observer to go on their own journey and explore how they connect and perceive a piece of art, and what it means to them. The interpretation is in the eye of the beholder.
What I see, is for my eyes to see only….
And what you see, is for you alone!
Melissa Benedek is a Contemporary Artist and Designer. She grew up in New York City surrounded by the arts. Her father owned an art gallery in Soho, New York. Her mother was an Interior Designer and also involved in the art world, curating art shows in the Hamptons, NY.
Melissa always had a love for art and studied at The Arts Student’s League in NYC and Parson’s School of Design.
Melissa started out working for a company as a Buyer for jewelry and accessories for many years and then went onto opening her own business and store. Her love for color combinations and Design led her into becoming a Jewelry Designer as well. She developed accounts with specialty stores in the Hamptons and different parts of New Jersey.
Melissa’s direction today is based solely on her artwork. Her portfolio demonstrates her vision and passion for colors and textures. Her art features fluid brushstrokes that intersect, overlap and react with one another. This technique makes her pieces pop and come alive. She believes abstract art has no standard interpretation allowing the onlooker to create their own thoughts and feelings about each piece.
Melissa now resides in Connecticut and continues to paint full time. She is an artist at RPAC Gallery in Ridgefield, Ct. She belongs to the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County, The Ridgefield Guild of Artists and Carriage Barn Arts Center.
